From time to time, various stories circulate on the internet that, although no one knows if they are actually real, are certainly amazing and touch many people. One of them circulated some time ago and was so powerful that it was republished hundreds of thousands of times online.
The story goes that outside a gym there was a poster showing a very thin and beautiful girl. The title of the poster was:
“This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?”
According to the story, a woman responded in the following way:
“My dears, whales are constantly surrounded by friends, such as dolphins, seals, and even curious people. They are sexually active and raise their young with great tenderness. They have a good time, enjoy themselves, and eat a lot of shrimp. They swim all day and travel to fantastic places like Patagonia and the coral reefs of Polynesia. They have the ability to sing incredibly well and sometimes their songs are even released on CD. They are impressive and much-loved mammals that everyone admires and defends.
Mermaids, on the other hand, do not exist. But if they did, they would certainly be split personalities – woman or fish? And after all, who would want a woman who smells like fish?
Without a doubt, I prefer to be a whale.
In an age where the mass media tells us that only the thin is beautiful, I prefer to eat ice cream with my children, dinner with my husband, drink and have fun with my friends.
And every time I look at my curves in the mirror, I tell myself:
“You are wonderful, today too!”
Even if the story isn't real, we certainly wish it were. The only thing we would add to the woman's letter is this - the only thing that matters is feeling good about yourself. Love your body no matter what it's like. And make sure it's full of confidence and health.
